In May 2000, Blue Parrot (Media & Events, as it was back then) supplied our first event in Cheltenham where we were originally based. Run by brothers Alex and Jonnie this small family business came from very humble beginnings, providing lighting and sound for events, weddings and schools and universities.
It is thanks to the tremendous support from friends, family and loyal clients that Blue Parrot Theatre & Live Events is where we are today. We have evolved a lot since then, with our core business now focused around lighting and sound design and supply for the theatre industry, also with a niche in supplying and assisting with the production of events.
Alex split off from the company when we made our move to Edinburgh, focussing on his own area of expertise of designing and developing websites, apps and other digital solutions with his company 16i (www.16i.co.uk), although if there's an event we're involved in in or around Cheltenham, you'll be sure to see him joining us on site there.
So this May we should be celebrating our 20th Birthday, but like many people with important milestone events, we're unable to celebrate in the way that we had originally planned. Whilst frustrating this is of course for exactly the right reasons and whilst times are tough right now, especially in our industry, we can instead look forward to the future. Next year, we'll be celebrating our 21st birthday and we'll be sure to make it a big one!
